This project proposes the design of a 5-Star Plus hotel complex in Havana, Cuba, specifically in the former Marianao beaches. The intervention includes the rehabilitation of the historic Casino Español and Havana Yacht Club buildings, integrating them into a new infrastructure that modernizes the area with recreational, gastronomic, and administrative spaces linked to nautical tourism.

A detailed site analysis highlights the area’s rich history, strong urban connectivity, and environmental challenges like coastal erosion and extreme weather. The project adopts Glenn Murcutt’s philosophy, treating the building as an environmental machine, with large overhangs, permeable façades, and strategic ventilation systems optimizing natural light and airflow.

The master plan divides the site into functional sectors, repurposing the historic buildings for recreational and dining spaces while introducing a contemporary hotel structure. Public areas like a beachfront promenade and retail spaces enhance urban activity. A sustainability-focused approach integrates solar panels, green roofs, and passive cooling strategies to minimize environmental impact.
